IMS 431 - Creative Direction in Entertainment Design
Spring 2024
For this project, I began by developing a detailed band brief to guide the visual direction for Noah Kahan’s concert aesthetics. The brief included an analysis of his current indie "granola" style and his emotional, storytelling approach to music. This foundation allowed me to reimagine his concert visuals with a new, illustrated, vibrant style aimed at heightening the concert experience.
Creative Process
Orange Juice Loop – With After Effects and Illustrator, I crafted a loop inspired by themes of resilience and sobriety, reflecting the personal journey within the song. The animations use expressive visuals to create an intimate, moving atmosphere.
Everywhere, Everything Loop – Using TouchDesigner, I designed a watercolor-style loop that captures the song’s message of living in the present. The fluid, organic motion of the watercolor effect mirrors the track's mood, adding depth to Kahan’s performance.
This project showcases my skills in concept development, animation, and visual storytelling, as well as my ability to tailor concert visuals that amplify an artist’s connection with the audience.
